Through interdisciplinary, hands-on experiential activities and mixed-age collaboration,

students engaged with Lunar New Year traditions while building meaningful learning experiences.

For this activity, students from different grade levels were regrouped into four mixed-age teams

and rotated through four themed stations.

Station 1|Pipe Cleaner Craft

With teacher guidance, students used pipe cleaners to create Lunar New Year decorations.

Students who finished early naturally stepped in to help their teammates, and tables were soon filled with adorable persimmons and festive lanterns.

Station 2|3D Printing Pen Creation

Centered on the “Year of the Horse” theme, students used 3D printing pens to create their own colorful horses.

While working from the same theme, each student chose different colors, and some even added their names to personalize their creations.

Station 3|Secrets of Ecology – Terrarium Setup

Following the teacher’s explanation, students quickly and carefully completed their terrarium setups. They then thoughtfully welcomed the shrimp into their jars, watching as the lively movement among the plants immediately captured everyone’s attention.

Station 4|Rising Step by Step • Sweet New Year

Teachers simplified the steps and guided students through making steamed rice cakes, finishing with paper-cut decorations.

Both beautiful and delicious, this station became the most frequently chosen favorite among students.

Through four different stations in a joyful New Year atmosphere,

students experienced four distinct learning themes in a single day.

If you could choose just one station, which one would it be?
