【International Women’s Day at TCS Middle School | From Daily Life to History】

In the days leading up to International Women’s Day, TCS Middle School students explored gender topics through different learning experiences—connecting daily life, society, and history.

In G7, what seemed like a simple board game became a discussion about shared household responsibilities. With the teacher’s guidance, the game gradually shifted from individual competition to teamwork, and students discovered that the game became much more enjoyable when they worked together.

G8 students visited the Taiwan National Women’s Center. Teachers initially wondered whether such a serious exhibition might make students lose interest, but the opposite happened. Students listened attentively throughout the tour, showing an unexpected level of patience and focus.

Meanwhile, G9 students visited the Ama Museum – Peace and Women’s Human Rights Museum. As they read the stories and historical accounts presented in the exhibition, many students paused to reflect, showing strong empathy toward the people and events they encountered.

Students’ reflections also revealed thoughtful insights. Several wrote that progress in society requires cooperation between genders, and that a better future is built when people support one another.

From a classroom game to museum visits and stories from history, students were not only introduced to women’s issues, but also learned to better understand and respect one another.

Through these different learning experiences, students began to see that differences between genders do not have to divide us—they can also become a source of mutual support and shared progress.
